On Catalogue Card for duplicate print P.307.ACH1: “A grave of the Endcavom street [sic Endeavour Strait] natives. After Caley?.”

A grave of the Endeavour Strait Aboriginals on the coastline. The grave is constructed from a raised platform of packed earth with four tree trunks upright at each corner and topped with a skull?. Between the two front posts are branches with leaves arranged in a diamond pattern with three upright struts. Onto of the platform are skulls and nautilus shells, and the sides of the platform are decorated with a row rib bones of the dugong pointing downwards. The platform is encircled with a ditch, around which grows vegetation, and in the background is a sea bay. [JD 23/8/2007] [WV 23/4/2009]
