Description

On Catalogue Card for duplicate print P.281.ACH1: “Natives ? ... a boundary ?.”

A line of fifteen Aboriginal men, each holding a club out in their right hand while bowing towards a group sitting on a hillock in the background. One of the men holds a stuffed figure up behind his back, and three of the men hold branches symbolising emblems, possibly from cabbage trees (Cordyline) up behind their backs. This ceremony is carried out when epidemics break out. Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) trees are in the background. [JD 23/8/2007] [WV 7/4/2009]
