"Buryat Shaman" [manuscript in ink]

Portrait of a Buryat shaman holding a large round drum with a face carved in the struts at the back. The man is wearing an elaborate hat with cowrie shells at the front and fur? tassels? at the back, and a fur coat with at least twenty-one bells attached. [JD 17/08/2022]

The list describing individual slides is pasted to the inside lid of the box C377/.

Place: The Place field was previously recorded as being "E Asia; ?China; ?Nei Mongol Zizhiqu (Inner Mongolia); [North west Manchuria]", but based on Chadwick's publications, this photo more likely relates to Buryat communiteis in siberia. The Place field has been amended accordingly. [JD 26/06/2019]
