Description

A documentation photograph of the side view of a wooden sculpture, identified as either Ibo or Edo. The figure is seated on a stool. The head of the figure has a dark painted square headdress with horns sticking out; the profile shows that the face has a high rounded forehead, long pointed nose, and jutting open mouth. There are linear scarification markings on the forehead and cheeks and square keloid markings on the side of the cheek, downward pointed horns at the side of the head. The figure is seated on a stool with knees bent, and is holding a staff in one hand. The base of the figure is rounded.
