Description
Aguneche euyi (lion elephant) mask displayed on an animal skin; the mask is wooden and consists of anthropomorphised elements - a carved face with arched eyebrows encasing rounded eyes encircled in white? paint, a triangular nose with white line in the centre, a large mouth and extended jaw line depicting large pointed teeth painted white? and two curved horns as “ears”, above the face of the mask are two curved horns in the centre, and other pointed horns emanating from the sides. In the centre of the larger horns is a small carved figure - with horns and a white face. On top of the superstructure is a carved animal with a white face. In the background are buildings and vegetation.
