Description

An unidentified object is being passed between Bill Townsend and a man standing on the floor of the house. The man is wearing a tall conical cap and has a long stick through the lobe of his right ear. Some local men are looking on, while others are looking towards the camera. In the background to the right is another newly constructed house with its sago thatched roof shining brightly in the sunlight [Andrew Moutu 19/02/04].

These photographs were probably taken during a field research trip by researchers from the Summer Institute of Linguistics. Among the members of the expedition are Patricia K Townsend, William H Townsend and T Wayne Dye. An initial report on the research is given by Dye, Townsend and Townsend (1968) [Mark Elliott 04/03/04].
