Description
Two men smoking dagga (marijuana) using smoking horn pipes. The men wear hair, neck, arm, and chest ornaments and appear to be wearing lion cloths with back panel of fur?. The men are sitting on low stools / headrests, and positioned on the ground in front of them is decorated skin shield and two spears. P.57192.RDG to P.57260.RDG were found in C274/1/ which came from C274/. The latter was kept in Wooden Drawer VI.
Place: This entry was previously recorded as “Africa” but based on the sequence of photographs, the men’s clothing and the shield, the photograph it was provisionally recorded as Tanzania. However, based on the clothing, shields, and headrests / stools, the photograph relates to Zulu.
