Description
Portrait of an older Zulu woman, a Sangoma (traditional healer), identifiable by her Umeyeko (dreads?) hairstyles with rings of white beads threaded in. The neck ornament with the horn attachment probably contains medicine, as do the leather? amulets. She is also wearing a strip of antelope? hide around her neck, and a neck ornament consisting of a metal? spoon with a beaded handle. She is dressed in a cloth wrap with a separate fur band at the top, and a grass belt. In her right hand she holds a lishoba (fly-whisk).
