Description
Sudanese man shaping clay for base as part of the process for making a coffee pot. The list accompanying the image states: “The cups are shaped first with the fingers (photo B) and then on the bulb of a flask already made (photo C)” [manuscript in ink]. The man squats in corner of adobe building surrounded by gourd, wood, and basketry containers, and wood and woven raffia? stool to the left.

P.55909.RDG and N.55914.RDG were found inside the envelope C259/2/ which was inside C259/. The latter was found in wooden drawer 1.
These photographs are accompanied by a handwritten list which provides detailed description for each image which show the process of making coffee pots. The main details of each image have been transcribed. The list is archived, see archive reference.
