Description
"Canard net used for trapping grey mullets when they leap over a vertical net. The canard lies horizontal one edge attached to head line of the vertical net. The stick serve to extend the net on the surface of the water. Draw this net at Poudre d'Or, when it was being used at a great fish drive attended by some scores of people left for the love to participate in the wholesale catch of fish made on such an occasion. The present photo is of a portion of such a net, drying at Grand Gaube. Grand Gaube. Paudre d'Or. Mauritius. 1926." [Hornell's annotation]
