Description

Dang-ki (spirit medium) performance during a festival at Jalan Kebaya, Singapore. [Elliott's listing] Possibly at Tan Kong Tian (圆福殿) Chinese temple, also known as Chua Village Temple. [suggested by Taoism Singapore Facebook group]

Standing on a paved road in front of a row of shops, the medium, a middle-aged man, wears a silk headdress, white trousers and siu to (繡肚, xiudu, stomacher, apron). His cheek is pierced by a long metal pole and he has a flag in his hand. An assistant - an older man wearing shorts and an unbuttoned shirt - cracks a long whip. [EB 11/01/2023]
