Description
Festival at a Chinese temple in Jalan Kebaya, Singapore, dedicated to the Lord of Black Heaven (xuan tian shang di), Third Prince (Nezha, The Third Prince, san tai zi), and the Great Saint (da shen). [description in Elliott 1955: pp. 127-128] .
The spirit-medium, a young man with dark hair, wearing a white apron and silk stomacher, gestures with his hands as he looks down at a charm paper (fu) on the wooden offering table in front of him. Beside him is an older man in a white t-shirt, a young man and an older woman in a white blouse. On the table are lighted candles and incense sticks, bowls of incense and further charm papers (fu).
