Description

Posed group scene with three young girls, one young woman holding a baby and two young boys. All but one girl are sitting. One girl is holding a water vessel and there also seems to be a wicker basket in the scene. The girls are dressed in patterned tunics and head coverings, the boys in plain cloth tunics over shirts. In the background there is vegetation and a stone structure.

The print was found in an envelope now marked C239/ which was inside the wooden drawer I.

Photographer: Zangaki was a commercial photographer active in Egypt in the 1880s and 1890s. Zangaki specialized in views of the Nile, the Pyramids and other antiquities, Cairo scenes and ethnic groups. [Source: RCS Photographers Index Online, JD 4/10/2006]
