Description
Upper body portrait of a sitting man. He is facing the photographer, but looking into the middle distance to the right of the photograph. He has a moustache and goatee.
He is wearing a takiyya (skullcap) which is nearly totally covered by a white tahaykt (large outer wrap). The tahaykt also covers all of his lower body and most of his left hand side and shoulder. Underneath this he is wearing a dark coloured djabaduli (full length garment) with brocade around the edges over a kaftan of the same colour. The kaften has brocade and looped decoration surrounding a row of buttons, which are fastened up to the subject’s neck. The brocade decoration on both garments is the same colour as the cloth. How far down the kaften the buttons and the decoration extend cannot be seen due to the tahaykt.
