Description

View through a keyhole shaped arch down a covered arcade in a bazaar. On the left hand side of the photograph the arches continue, framing doors into shops. In the first arch there are household goods displayed with bags and other metal items suspended from the top of the arch above the door. On the right of the door there are are small circular tables with several engraved metal plates displayed. To the left of this table a man is sitting on a chair looking directly at the camera. He is wearing a pale, tightly wound turban and a pale shirt with a black cloak over it. The cloak stops by his knees. he is wearing white socks which come part way up his calves with black shoes. The man sitting to the right of the table is dressed in the same fashion ad is also facing the camera, but he is not wearing socks. A child is sitting with his back against the pillar of the arch through which the photograph is being taken., wearing pale clothes. Behind him are boxes decorated with mother of pearl inlay displayed on tables with mother of pearl inlay. Behind the first sitting man a man is standing facing the camera. He is wearing a pale turban with a large, pale cloak covering his body and his head. There is another man standing behind him but the photograph is too dark to see detail.
On the left hand side of the photograph there are four more people facing the photographer. One man is wearing a pale turban, baggy trousers and waistcoat, with a child standing next to him. the other people are sitting on a piece of stone next to the wall, and are partially obscured by the pillar of the arch. The floor is paved, with a paved gutter running down the centre towards the photographer.
