Description

"Native women at Mwantine Village near Old Shinyanga. Note the method of storing ears of mealies. Note also the two balls of ‘kamba’ stuck on the poles. These are bast from trees and are doubtless to be used for building purposes. Inn the background there is a rough palisade. Such is generally made of truncheons of Commiphora spp. which take root easily and form a living fence." [Typed caption]
