This negative was found in a container marked C116/, inside an envelope marked C116/13/ (both marked by the cataloguer). In C116/13/ were 6 postcards (P.38793. to P.38798.) and one colour negative (N.38799.). This envelope was found in a group of envelopes sticky-taped together, all containing postcards, with some loose postcards between the P.57811.HUT to P. 578019.HUT and N.P.57810.HUT were found inside the envelope now numbered C291/1/5/. This came from C291/1/ which was found inside C291/. The latter was kept in from Wooden Drawer IV.
Place: The Place field was previously recorded as being “Asia; South Asia; India; South India; Cochin State”, but the transparency is annotated as ‘Sema Naga’. The Place field has been amended accordingly. [JD 17/6/2011]nvelopes. The envelopes are marked C116/6/ to C116/13/.
Prior to re-housing and cataloguing, C116/ was formerly known as Box 78 and was stored on Shelf 3 in the Photo Archive Room.
The cataloguer suggests that the postcards date 1939 or prior because they are in or amongst envelopes with manuscript by T. A. G. Strickland who was in Fiji and New Zealand between 1937 and 1939.
Place: The Place field was previously recorded as being “Oceania Polynesia; ?New Zealand; ?Fiji [Aotearoa]”, but digitising the transparency shows it is part of Hutton's series of a Naga dance festival, T.57806.HUT - T.57810.HUT. The photograph definitely does not relate to New Zealand. The Place field has been amended accordingly. [JD 22/04/2020]
