Description

A snake, Hamadryad or the King cobra, on the grass at the Taiping Museum. [SG 19/11/2008]

Evans recalled that: "A large specimen of the Hamadryad (king Cobra) was once brought in alive, to the Museum in Taiping. It was lashed to a pole, and measured 13'11". Apart form a cobra, killed in my garden in Taiping, and another seen later by myself there, I have seldom come across snakes in Malaya ..." (The Years Behind Me, pg. 379)
