Place: This record was previously incorrectly identified as being taken by “P. de Rautenfeld 1925”, and “Canoes, Kinomeri, Urama district, Aird Delta.”, but this information relates to print P.9402.ACH1. The record has been amended accordingly. [JD 4/9/2009]

Place: The Place field was previously recorded as being “Oceania Melanesia; Papua New Guinea; Delta Division [British New Guinea]”, but the duplicate print, P.47905.KH, is annotated as being 'Goaribari' and this is in accord with the film reference '15'. The Place field has been amended accordingly. [JD 18/1/2015]

Related Archive: In Kathleen Haddon's unpublished manuscript 'An English Girl in New Guinea', 1914, p.54 for the Tuesday 6th - Wednesday 7th October is the following extract:
“Our progress round Bell Point was incredibly slow, but we finally turned it, hoisted our sail, and took departure for Goaribari Island. By this time the sun was well up, and it got extremely hot for we were still without an awning and after portion of the boat where we lived had no shade whatever. At noon we were near Goaribari Island and hastened to stow away all loose articles, as these natives are adepts at stealing and have been known to unscrew and make off with such articles as anchor plates and patent logs, although these cannot have been much use to them. As we approached the island several canoes came our, but although we slackened our speed no natives came aboard so we did not see any at close quarters." [JD 21/12/2014]
