MAA Exhibition: Same image paired with P.9364.ACH1 included in 1920s Exhibition Case Binders "Cases 5-10. Torres Strait." (OA2/16/4) and captioned: “26. Bow of a Mabuiag canoe.
The hull is carved in the old characteristic manner. A split bamboo is laid over the seam between the hull and the washstrake; above the washstrake is a triangular fore washboard in front of which is the figurehead (over Case 8). The fore end of the dugout is ornamented with Ovulum shells and a fringe, above which is a V-shaped errection ornamented with cowry shells.
