Three quarter length portrait of two Blackfoot women standing in front of a partially visible tipi on a grassy plain. The woman standing to the left is wearing a long dress adorned on its upper half with elaborate beadwork patterning, cowrie shells and dangles. [for further details see Notes.] The woman standing to the right is wearing a ?cloth dress adorned with cowrie shells on its upper half. She is wearing a large blanket with a beaded panel at its centre wrapped around her waist. [for further details see Notes.] [JD 9/1/2007]

Photographer: This negative was previously attributed to 'John Emslie Horniman' (b. 1863 - 1932), but based on the biographies and life dates, it is more likely that the photographer was John Eric Horniman (b. 1889 - 1951), Emslie's son. This has been confirmed by the Passenger lists of the 5th June 1909 from England to Montreal, where the following passengers:
"Dr. A.C. Haddon, 55 years old, Surgeon.
Fanny, wife
Ethel, 25 yrs. old, daughter
Kathleen, 21 yrs. old, daughter.
John E. Horniman, 20 years old, student, single."
