Description

On Catalogue Card: “Masked figure of ‘anohohleekwudgaich’. This female supernatural creature appears on the final night of every ‘kusuit’ dance, the night on which the uninitiated are summoned to see the supernatural ones, i.e., the masked figures. She announces which each is, and keeps up a constant stream of remarks for the benefit of the uninitiated. At other times she is the guardian of the different spots where names are concealed - in theory if an uninitiated person stumbles on her he has the right to the name localised on that place. Wooden mask with cedar bark trimmings.” [typed text]
