Biographical Information: Arthur John Newman Tremearne (b. 1877 in Melbourne, d. 1915 ) was a British major, anthropologist and explorer. He wrote important ethnographic works on the inhabitants of northern Nigeria and the Hausa, including, The Ban of the Bori: Demons and demon-dancing in West and North Africa. [JD 8/9/2013]
