Place: The Place field was previously recorded as being “Africa ; east Africa; Nuba”, but the catalogue card is annotated as “Nubian, Lafofa.”, which is from South Kurdufan province, Sudan. The Place field has been amended accordingly. [JD 2/6/2009, updated JD 09/01/2017]

Group: Lafofa is an ethnic minority among the Nuba people of Sudan, with numbers less than 10,000 persons, and living in South Kurdufan province. This minority is mainly Muslim. Photographer: The print was previously unattributed but the white numbering on the lower edge of the negative was used by Charles Seligman. The Place, Group and Date of the print is also in accord with Seligman's fieldwork in Sudan. [JD 5/31/2017]
