Named Person: Haddon met Pasi in 1888. By 1898 he had become the Mamoose (chief) of Dauar; he was the source of much information and advice for the Expedition members, particularly concerning stories and Malo-Bomai. He appears in both 1888 and 1898 photographs (e.g. P.1151.ACH1). [Jude Philp 19/3/1999]

CUMAA Exhibition: The Haddon Mounted card with P.849.ACH1 - P.850.ACH1 was displayed in Assembling Bodies, May 2009 - November 2010 in the Anthropology & Photography sections. [JD 1/12/2010]

Context: This type of photograph served the dual purpose of being a souvenir / studio portrait for the sitter and a record of the sitter for the physical anthropological and ethnographic work of the Expedition; some portraits were taken in exchange for assistance with psychological testing (Myers 1898).
