Context (Field collection)
Material from El Mahasna excavated in 1901, was excavated by John Garstang for the Egyptian Research Account. The label on the objects is miss-leading. It is possible that when objects were divided and distributed some material went to the EES/EEF as detailed on object lists at the Petrie Museum of Egyptian and Sudanese Archaeology archives [https://egyptartefacts.griffith.ox.ac.uk/pmawfp1d91] and this was then re-distributed. Or it could have been miss-attributed to the wrong Fund on the label which in turn was written incorrectly in the accession register.

Context (Amendments / updates)
The Source field previously stated 'Newberry. P.E (via Oriental Studies Department); Egypt Exploration Fund'. However El Mahasna was excavated by John Garstang in 1901 for the ERA. This field has been amended to reflect this. It is unclear why Newberry was associated with this material.
