Context (Field collection)
Found on the occupation site by Charles S. Leaf, presumably during his initial visit in May 1931. The site, known as Plantation Farm, was identified in 1931 by Charles S. Leaf and John Grahame Douglas Clark near Shippea Hill railway station. Clark subsequently cut a trial trench and donated a burnt assemblage of unstratified material to the Museum later that same year. The site was more fully excavated by Clark under the auspices of the Fenland Research Committee in autumn 1932, with the resulting finds donated to the Museum in 1933. This accession appears to be the only object from Plantation Farm collected and donated by Charles S. Leaf rather than by Clark.
