Context (Amendments / updates)
The catalogue card notes the provenance as 'Western Australia' but also notes it as 'from Alligator River/..... Sent to W.R by Western Australian Museum & Art Gallery at Perth.'

1927.452 notes that the Ridgeway was sent the objects from Western Australian Museum in 1906 and this may be the case with the other WAMAG material too.

A printed brown paper label attached to 1927.450 includes details such as ‘No…. Date.../ Sex.... Colour of Iris/ Colour of Log...../ Name..../ Loc.' It was also sent to Ridgeway by the Western Australian Museum & Art Gallery at Perth, possibly in 1906 (cf.1927.452). Alligator River items from this exchange would have been collected by John T. Tunney a collector for the Western Australian Museum, who was based in the Northern Territory in 1902-3.

Blue crayon numbers on this type of printed label are likely to be Western Australian Museum accession numbers related to the Geological Collection Register, as it was, circa early 1900.
