Context (Amendments / updates)
When a tube of glass beads were re-accessioned as 1947.2378, Geoffrey Bushnell noted on the catalogue card that 'the label attached to these also reads "Genuine Pearl Beads. Mound Calhoune Co. Ills.'. This refers to this string of three pearl beads, which were found with the label Bushnell transcribes, in the glass tube containing loose beads from Alpine County, California. The label is not in Horace Beck's handwriting nor does it bear a Beck number; the pearl beads are not listed in Beck's catalogue of beads by material type (WO1/1/5). It is unclear whether the pearl beads from Calhoun Co. were ever part of the Beck collection, but they are distinct from the beads from Alpine County, therefore they have been assigned a TEMP number (TEMP.03874) and their own record.
