First print, 'Manière dont on expose les morts à Otahiti' (Manner of how we expose the dead in Tahiti) depicts the funeral rituals and treatment of the deceased in Tahiti, visited by Captain Cook during his first voyage in 1769. The copper plate was engraved by Robert Bernard and was included in the publication 'An Account of the Voyages Undertaken by the Order of his Present Majesty for Making Discoveries in the Southern Hemisphere' by John Hawkesworth in 1773.
