Description

Wooden sewing or jewellery box, mounted on four spherical copper alloy legs, covered in partially faded red paper with floral pattern embossed metal strip decorating the border of the lid. The box is decorated with ornate copper alloy lid handle and an ornamental copper alloy keyhole cover. Insert with separated compartments, one appears to have been covered with paper and silk, possibly forming a pin cushion, but only small fragments of the materials remain visible. Small lid for one compartment decorated in same manner as box lid. The inside of the box is covered in turquoise paper
