Description
Sewing or jewellery box, wood covered in red leather with gadrooned cushion-shaped lid and embossed and gold floral decorations. Ornate gilt metal handles on box and front-opening drawer. The inside of the box is separated into fifteen compartments lined with blue paper, two covered with red leather lids, containing a leather-bound needle case with sewing needles inside and silk-covered needle cushion with one needle inserted. The inside of the lid is covered in light-blue velveteen cloth with embossed geometric patterns around the border and a floral decoration in the middle. A lock to secure the lid visible on the front of the box.
