Description
Shadow Puppet - Set of twelve two-dimensional puppets made from hide (possibly cow). The style is a simplified version of Javanese " wayang kulit", with very little carving and decoration. The figures are painted crudely on both sides (except one), showing the outlines of facial features, hair, clothes and a few ornaments. Only three colours (black, red and yellow) are used. No rods or sticks are attached, although the figures each have two movable arms (with joints at shoulders and elbows). Some have a name written at the back
