Carole Gibbs donated some of her collection to the British Museum in 2015, but these items were retained and exhibited during public talks that she gave about her life in the Pacific.

Context (Field collection)
Collected by Carole Gibbs who was the proprieter of Pigeon Island Traders in Mohawk Bay, Reef Islands, Solomon Islands circa 1970s. She lived in the Reef Islands for five years in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and traded mainly in copra, sea cucumber, hawksbill turtle shell, crocodile skins and shells.
