Description
Large burden basket with joined V-shaped stripped design edged with red and dark brown stepped design. In the centre of the downward pointing V's are small stripped yellow and black triangles. In the centre of the upward pointing V's are dark brown, yellow and red diamonds. The overall background imbrication is cream, while the stripes are yellow. There are no leather thongs present on any of the baskets, which would have been used for carrying.

The catalogue card states the baskets were " made by Klickitat Indian woven of cedar roots and " squa" grass." The Klickitat Indians come from the interior of Washington State. A small old label for E 1898.40 B was found wrapped with basket 1924.688 B, it has been placed with its original basket. (G.Crowther).
