Context (CMS Context)
The catalogue card states the baskets were " made by Klickitat Indian woven of cedar roots and " squa" grass." The Klickitat Indians come from the interior of Washington State. A small old label for E 1898.40 B was found wrapped with basket 1924.688 B, it has been placed with its original basket. (G.Crowther). The original European tribal names and, where possible, current tribal names have both been given in separate GLT fields.; The catalogue card states the baskets were " used for carrying huckleberries from the mountains."
