Two handwritten notes found with object, referring to 1954.325-334, first reads 'Part of a post-Columbian assemblage from near the mouth of the Yakima River, Washington.'
Second note reads 'From siit bank at mouth of Yakima River 6 ft below the surface between two different deposits of silk. Occupation occurred during the interval between the two deposits. There is sufficient of the silt on the pieces for exam.' with a drawing on the other side of the note, possibly of the find site.
