Context (Field collection)
These sheds were entered into the Z register as from the 'Three Mounds Site, Zuni River'. This almost certainly refers to the site described by Louis Clarke (see catalogue card for 1924.155): 'From a site which has three small mounds, ruined houses, probably just across the Zuni River over the border of New Mexico into Arizona. The land was believed to belong to Williams in Zuni. A good many sherds lying about and quantities in wood quite close. Picked up [by the donor] July and August 1923'. The record has been updated accordingly.
