Catalogue card says 'See Beck Colln. 47.2365' in same hand that has written Beck Collection cards. 1947.2365 is 3 tubular white glazed beads taken from strings 1930.1231 and 1930.1232 in this Museum, Mr. Beck's no. 2246, given to Horace Beck by Louis Clarke, then-Curator of MAA. They re-joined the museum's collection in 1947 when Beck's collection came to MAA after his death and were given the accession number 1947.2365.

Description (Physical description)
String of tubular white beads. The glaze on these is very much better in the perforation than on the outside--a section must be cut to show what the core is made of.

Annual Report of the Faculty Board of Archaeology and Anthropology, 28 April 1930, n.p., states: "In a show-case at the other end of the [Andrews] gallery the greater part of the collection made by the late Dr Gadow in Southern Mexico, and presented to the Museum in memory of him by Lord Revelstoke, has been placed on temporary exhibition."

The fact that it was displayed in the case of ancient beads would imply it is pre-Columbian -- but if glazed as per the remarks on catalogue card (in an unknown hand) they cannot be.

Description (Physical description)
35 white glazed clay tubular beads strung on a thin twisted thread. Glaze most prominent on the interior with exterior glaze mostly worn off. All in various shades of white, some with soil debris on the surface.
