Handwritten note with object reading in pencil: 'Fragments of matting, textile, and string etc. Burial 198. These fragments formed a bundle beneath the lower ?masàlla of the burial and represent a hand (two bones of which have apparently been burnt) placed beneath the head of the corpse and wrapped, with a maize cob, in cloth and matting. The original place of the string fragments could not be definitely ascertained owing to the fact that the bundle had not been treated with wax and had got much shaken up in transit.'
