Description

One handle sherd; possibly from a Matsaki Polychrome vessel. Broadly cylindrical, with an oval cross-section, slightly curve; distal ends terminate with transverse breaks, one end has two incised lines in a cross shape. Burnished tan-slipped; interior surface has applied brown paint in three linear motifs; fabric feel is smooth; core is grey.

Context (Amendments / updates)
When the Kechib:wa collection was packed for storage in c 1986 the pottery was assessed by museum staff and boxed according to type. These sherds were packed with Matsaki Polychrome material, which has now been added to the Description field.
