Description
Incomplete Matsaki Polychrome shouldered jar; eleven refitting sherds, including four rim sherds. Everted bevelled rim; conical neck; high carination at body. Burnished surface; exterior is tan-slipped, with applied red and brown paint in geometric motifs, including a checkerboard motif at the neck; internal surface has a grey hue; pigment loss throughout; fabric feel is smooth, with a grey core.

Context (Amendments / updates)
When the Kechib:wa collection was packed for storage in c 1986 the pottery was assessed by museum staff and boxed according to type. These sherds were packed with Matsaki Polychrome material, which has now been added to the Description field.
