Description

One Pinnawa Red-on-white sherd; possibly part of vessel with a rounded base. Sherd is broadly four-sided, with a curved cross-section; burnished buff-white slipped surface; interior surface has applied red paint in geometric motifs that are possibly interlocking, pigment is faded; external surface has smokey black patches from differential firing.

Context (Amendments / updates)
When the Kechib:wa collection was packed for storage in c 1986 the pottery was assessed by museum staff and boxed according to type. These sherds were packed with Pinnawa Red-on-white material, which has now been added to the Description field.
