Found in what appeared to be the original packing for postage to the museum. The parcel was addressed to A.C. Haddon at 3 Cranmer Road. It was marked in a later hand '37.1097. Weaving loom. India. Clarke Gift. Samson Coll.' and was, apparently erroneously, also marked '1937.942' and 'Howell Coll. October 6th 1937' [which is allocated to another object].

Description of 1937.1097 [A-I], one of four bundles: 'Part of a weaving loom, bundled together. A red and cream woven textile is wrapped around sticks, probably part of the loom structure, shuttles, etc.'

Description (Physical description)
Tools for weaving loom 1937.1097 A-I. One length of iron with circular cross-section tapering towards both ends and wrapped with cotton; bobbin or length of wood wrapped with spun fibre or cord; ovoid wooden shuttle with central groove wrapped in twisted plant fibre cord.
