Description (Physical description)
Description for 1930.734 [A-B], in Rymill catalogue written by Alison Brown: 'Dance bustle of thick hide to which rows of eagle feathers have been attached, many of which are coming loose. Some feathers are attached to two long strips of black woollen cloth. Also attached are a number of bells and green, yellow, gold and red ribbons. A multi-coloured woven wool sash is fastened to the top of the bustle and is used to tie it to the waist. Horse hair has also been added to some tips of bustle, and twisted brass wire holds it together at the top. Wooden sticks wrapped with porcupine quills are also attached. The bustle is stored in a grey cotton bag.'

'There was only certain ones that could wear those. Those people who have earned them...They were distinguished people only who would wear those only, for either their bravery or their good deeds to others, you know? It was only certain people, but now everybody wears them. [Powwow is] sort of commercialised.'
