Context (CMS Context)
It is unclear from the catalogue card as to which catalogue number belongs with which object. There was a duplicate card entry for number E 1902.37 A-B filed under North America- Unprovenanced. It is believed that it refers to the same items as those catalogued under Woodlands. Both cards have now been filed under Plains. The actual number on the objects is E 1902.37. [These objects have since been associated with and linked to E 1900.35 A-B and it is believed that they were erroneously accessioned again in 1902. Nora Klages-Miller 16/01/2025]

Context (Analysis)
It is possible that these leggings were also worn by Mahkatêwe-meshi-kêhkêhkwa, also known as Black Hawk, and were part of an outfit that was worn together. They were accessioned at the same time as the shirt (E 1900.35 A) and have quillwork that is very similar to that on the shirt. The beads around the quillwork are also very similar to those that border the beadwork strips on the shirt.
