One miniature vessel of red clay with red slip. Simple, everted rim at mouth; narrow, long neck; strap handle on one side of neck; incised face on the other, possibly human; projecting bent arms connected to body; lower body globular in shape; tapers to flat base. Red painted geometric pattern on lower body, possibly related to face on vessel.

This may be be part of the Sir Arthur Hill bequest recorded in 1941 and 1947. If so, it is likely to be from Sir Arthur William Hill KCMG FRS FLS (1875-1941), Kings College, Cambridge, and Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and a noted botanist and taxonomist.
