Note in Blue Book Register: 'Ladys [sic] Purse or bag of woven black silk + gilt beads adorned with triangular plaques of pinchbeck + steel. The cord terminates with spingles [sic] of pinchbeck. / English circa 1840 / Pres. by John Jennings / 1. Sept. 1912'

Description (Physical description)
Netted drawstring purse or reticule decorated with metallic beads and fittings. Knitted or crocheted brown cotton cord with rows of faceted metallic beads and a fringe of beaded loops; at the opening are two triangular pinchbeck fittings of openwork and scrolling motif, each set with five steel studs; seven brass rings attached to the rim, through which the drawstring cord is threaded; conical pinchbeck cord terminals decorated with a raised floral motif; purse is lined with black silk brocade.
