Description (Physical description)
Original description for Z 15076 A-D: 'Four belts, with patterns done by warp floats. The warp is formed of paired thick, red, wool threads and very fine, white, cotton ones. These are displaced by the thicker threads, thereby producing a net like effect in the background, with a raised red pattern reciprocating on the reverse. A: selvedge in red with green stripe. Pattern of dancing man with plumed headdress, apparently identical with Pitt Rivers piece (1946.6.28). B: selvedge in purple with red and green stripes. Pattern ofplumed dancer, similar to that of A. C: almost one of a pair to B, but with different separating pattern in between dancing figures. D: selvedge in red with brown and red dotted lines, made by warp floats. Dancing figures similar to those on A- C, but not separated by any other patterns as in the other pieces.'
