Description

Miniature vase of uneven shape. Everted and exterior folded rim; short constricted neck; bulbous upper body, tapering towards a splayed annular base. Two opposing adornos or zoomorphic lugs attach beneath rim; they likely show animal heads. Coarse red fabric with many inclusions. Small chip out of rim and damage to the bottom of one adorno.

The Moyne collection arrived at MAA in 1938, after being displayed in London from 19 May to 1 June. Richard Feachem organised and partially accessioned the collection in 1946; the remainder was registered in 1981 and 1995. See archive (FA2/3/6, Doc.68, Doc.467 and Doc.470).
